Oregon ODP Sends 53 Players to Regional Pool
By Erik Lyslo
It was an incredible way to end the 2009 ODP season. After hosting the Nike Friendship Cup on Memorial Day weekend and drawing just about all the big states back into the event, the Oregon ODP teams competed at Regional Camp in months of June and July.
The Regional Camp rosters are considered to be comprised of the top-18 players in the state for the specific age group; they compete for one week against the top players from all 14 states in Region IV. At the end of the week, the Regional Staff creates a Regional Pool made up of the top 30 players at camp. To make this list is a huge accomplishment.
For the seventh straight year, Oregon ODP increased our regional pool numbers, from 36 players last year (a state record) to 53 this year. It was an incredible increase for our state, jumping us from fourth in the region last year to third place in 2009, surpassing Colorado. Cal-South and Cal-North remain first and second, but Oregon ODP once again made the biggest jump of any State squad.
On behalf of the Oregon ODP staff, we congratulate the following players below, and their clubs, for representing Oregon at the regional level in ODP.
